Gotta keep on cubin’.
As AI continues the enshittification of every search engine, so too will it slowly absorb all coding efforts. At least, that’s the case for both Microsoft and Meta.
Notably, as mentioned at the LlamaCon AI developer conference by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, speaking to Mark Zuckerberg:
I’d say maybe 20%, 30% of the code that is inside of our repos today and some of our projects are probably all written by software.
Satya Nadella
Nadella then turned the same question on the Zuck, who evaded the immediate answer, instead claiming that Meta is aiming for 50% of their code to be AI written by 2026.
This Llamacon saw Meta launch their own AI app to compete with the likes of ChatGPT and Google Gemini. While Meta AI is primarily designed to assist via the company’s smart glasses, it also functions on both Android and iOS smart devices.
Meta and Microsoft aren’t the only ones attempting this approach, either. Late last year, Google CEO Sundar Pichai mentioned that AI handles 25% of the company’s code. It’s expected that the company will share more at Google’s I/O developer conference on May 20-21.
And Duolingo CEO Luis von Ahn has stated that the app will become an AI-focused business. While they downplayed the AI connection last year, they plan on eliminating human contract workers and moving over to more AI automation and tools.
Evil.
