The Lost & Forgotten Game ‘Time Crisis Elite’

In an era before smartphones ruled gaming, Namco Bandai Networks pulled off something unexpected – they brought the arcade classic Time Crisis to mobile phones. Released in December 2009, Time Crisis Elite reimagined the light gun experience for the keypad generation.

The game transformed your cellphone into a virtual shooting range. Players aimed by pressing numbers 1 through 9 corresponding to enemy positions on screen, with 0 serving as your cover/reload button. Even weapon switching got cleverly mapped to the * and # keys. What might seem like an awkward control scheme actually worked surprisingly well, proving that great arcade action could translate to even the most basic mobile devices.

This forgotten mobile game showed ingenuity, delivering pretty authentic Time Crisis thrills without a light gun in sight. For retro gaming enthusiasts, it stands as a fascinating example of early mobile adaptation done right.

And now the game has been saved thanks to our archiving project!
