Joure Visser, the breakout developer behind 2023’s viral hit Don’t Scream, returns with DEADCAM—a 90s-inspired survival horror game that plunges players into a series of terrifying VHS tapes. Coming to Steam Early Access on June 23, the game will first tease its dread-filled world with a demo during Steam Next Fest later this month.

DEADCAM channels the raw, unsettling vibe of J-horror and analog found footage, weaving together a collection of self-contained stories—each with its own eerie setting, unique mechanics, and grim narrative. The Early Access launch kicks off with the first “file”: a nerve-wracking encounter set in an abandoned Japanese school, where players must uncover the truth behind its haunting. Four more chilling tapes will follow throughout Early Access, expanding the nightmare.
Every file in DEADCAM ratchets up the terror with its own distinct threats and gameplay twists:
- Retro UI tracking – Monitor paranormal activity, enemy hordes, and your dwindling resources.
- Brutal, high-stakes combat – Wield pistols, shotguns, flamethrowers, and even katanas—but every shot or swing comes at a cost. Firearms slow you down, while melee weapons leave you exposed.
- Desperate resource management – Scavenge for limited medkits and make every bullet count—or face gruesome consequences.

Early Access: The First Tape Awaits
Launching June 23, the initial Early Access build delivers the abandoned school file, offering:
✔ ~1 hour of gameplay drenched in dread
✔ Three weapons (katana, pistol, shotgun) to fend off the unknown
✔ Multiple endings, but only one “good” outcome—unlock 100% playback to reveal the full story
More tapes are coming soon. Will you survive them all?
