Cosplay is serious business! And by serious business, I am really focusing on the business part of things. Where once Cosplay required a great deal of talent and skill to pull off movie/tv accurate replications of costume work, one can now jump in and buy a full set of scantily night-elf armor and be on the road to being famous.
Still, for those wonderful people who still make their costumes from scratch (I know quite a few amazing talents that I am lucky to call friends) McCall’s is making things just a little bit easier. I know McCall’s well, as any child that ever opened up their mothers sewing cabinet/drawer will immediately recognize their sewing patterns.
The company is now offering new patterns that, “bring their own imaginative looks to life more easily and expertly than ever before”. There will initially be three patterns available and will be priced from $17.95 to $19.95. These aren’t officially licensed pieces, but one can easily tell where they drew their inspiration from. The three pieces are: FLIGHT, TRENCHED, and CLOAK X.
The description for the new line is as follows:
Each new pattern offers step-by-step instructions for creating a central component of any number of looks and ensembles. Be it an airborne avenger from a distant galaxy or an angelic herald from an alternate universe, imagination literally takes wing with FLIGHT. Fans looking to pay tribute to a favorite hero of anime or rogue adventuress will find inspiration in TRENCHED. And for those for whom winter can’t come soon enough, CLOAK X has got them covered.
