A&A: The Adventures of Archer and Armstrong #10

I think I’m falling in love with this comic series. I haven’t laughed for so long thanks to such a creative and addictive story, and you guys will do the same: A&A: The Adventures of Archer and Armstrong #10 is filled with action and a great, great dose of comedy!

A&A: The Adventures of Archer and Armstrong  is definitely a series that you need to be reading

A fast-paced, enjoyable read that’s strikingly funny may be the perfect words to describe this month’s issue, and it’s so good I can (almost) forgive and forget the few clichés we see here, because, let’s face it, it’s (almost) impossible not to include at least one or two of them in the stories we create.

Again, I want to see more of Mary-Maria and her group of assassin, rebel nuns; sexy killing machines that represent the epitome of the femme fatale character. They show that you don’t have to create almost-nude girls to crate a sexy scene within a story, and that even with their bodies completely covered, they look stunningly great in A&A: The Adventures of Archer and Armstrong #10.

To include the idea of high beings, all-mighty creatures that control all form of life on the planet, was a good addition to the story’s overall mythology. Maybe it was only a matter of time, as we’re speaking about a Greek immortal and a guy with psychic powers, but it still looks pretty cool in the context.

I’m a little curious about what will happen now with Archer and Armstrong, as the plot twist wasn’t something I expected, well, not in this kind of story, at least. Whatever happens next I’m sure Valiant has something up its sleeve as they keep churning out some really great plots.

The art in A&A: The Adventures of Archer and Armstrong #10 wasn’t as remarkable as I would have expected thanks to past issues, until I reached Gub Gub’s mind scene. I swear on all that is sacred that, that was one hell of a great idea.

However, I’m a little bothered by the shadows that feel a bit heavy and overused in Mary-Maria’s scenes. They were trying to create a darker atmosphere, a more decrepit environment, but this lead only to a strange coloring and weird sort of lighting. It didn’t work for me this time, but it’s not something terrible,  instead something more of a personal taste thing.

That minor issue with some shadoe workk is really the only thing I can think of as being a bit underwhelming, as I liked the lettering and inking. Soft and natural, in harmony with the script and the coloring pretty much throughout the book. The team did a really good job this time with A&A: The Adventures of Archer and Armstrong #10!

I’m impressed with how things keep improving, how the group responsible for this comic is not afraid of taking risks and trying to do something different. They toss a little surprise here and there, and everything works far more often than it comes up short. This is a series that you need to be reading.
