Apparently, Amazon wants to add brick-and-mortar theaters to the list of stuff they own. According to Bloomberg sources, the want to acquire Landmark Theaters’ 50 location chain.

Landmark Theaters is currently owned by Wagner/Cuban Cos. The chain generally focuses on showing independent and foreign films.

Considering how they’ve been gearing up to take on Netflix, it’s easy to see this as yet another step towards world domination expanding their entertainment offers.

Doubly so, considering the fact that they’re focusing on creating movies, which will likely be shown, not just online, but in these theaters. As to whether they’ll successfully obtain Landmark, that will just have to be seen.
