Apple Gives Apple TV Xbox One And PS4 Controller Support

Apple

Probably a smart idea for them.

Another thing Apple announced at WWDC was that the next AppleTV update will add support for PS4 and Xbox One controllers. Both will be completely compatible with all games currently on the device, as well as with the upcoming Apple Arcade games. The update comes with tvOS 13.

This is actually a smart choice for the company. Both PS4 and Xbox One controllers are as readily available as their previous gen counterparts. Not to mention the fact that it spares them the need to develop their own controller, as Google is doing for their Stadia platform.

tvOS 13 releases this September 6th. Meanwhile, Apple Arcade won’t be much behind it, expected to launch sometime this Fall.
