Art Bell Passes Away at 72

Art Bell

Or did he?

Art Bell, narrator of the odd and strange, passed away last Friday at the age of 72. Bell was known for his 90’s radio show “Coast to Coast AM”, which at its peak ran on over 400 stations across the country. Bell was a beacon for the insomniacs, the disillusioned, those that wanted to believe there was more out there than what they knew on Earth.

Aliens, crop circles, weird science experiments, all common topics on Coast to Coast AM. His show spurred the American public’s desire for the strange, whetting their appetite for shows like The X-Files and Twin Peaks. Bell broadcast his show from his home studio, isolated in the Nevada desert, taking calls all night long.

It’s almost fitting that Art Bell died of Friday the 13th. He is survived by his wife, Airyn Ruiz, and his five children, Vincent Pontius, Lisa Pontius Minei, Arthur Bell IV, Asia Bell and Alexander Bell.
