Best Buy Shoppers Latest Casualty in Data Breach

Best Buy

For those affected, it is Worst Buy.

If you’ve shopped at Best Buy online within the past year or so, your shopping data may be at risk. The retailer is the latest to report stolen data from the massive data breach last year. The breach in question also affected several other retailers and services, including Sears and Delta Air Lines.

Best Buy states that [24]7.ai, the company behind the tech that backs their chat services had been hacked last year. The attacks happened on September 27th and October 12th, 2017.

The good news is, according to Best Buy’s statement, that only a few of their online customers were affected. That said, they are reaching out to those users in an attempt to make things right. They are not facing fraud charges for the incident, either.
