Big Chunk of GTA 4’s Soundtrack Will Soon Have its License Expire

GTA 4

Said songs will be patched out of the game.

Sometimes, you just have to deal with the problems of using licensed music. This isn’t the first time a GTA game has been forced to do so, either. But the licenses on a number of GTA 4 songs are soon to lapse, and that means they’ll be patched out of the game. As a matter of fact, “a lot of music” is going to expire this April 26th, and it’s highly unlikely the publisher will extend their licenses.

But that’s not quite all they wrote. As it turns out, players who own the game on PS3 will be allowed to download digital versions of the songs removed. Which doesn’t seem to be offered for Xbox 360 or PC players, but the latter is less of a problem. You know someone’s going to distribute a mod for the game that adds them all back.
