Call of Duty: WW2 has Mission to Watch Other Players Open Loot Boxes

This might be one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard of.

Call of Duty: WW2 has been getting some flak from armchair historians on Steam of late. I don’t much care, since it’s a game in a series that I don’t personally enjoy. But the damned Loot Box Leviathan reared it ugly head once again, so here we are.

See, the developers decided on an initiative to create missions that aren’t about creating pink mist. Which is applaudable, at the very least. Execution, on the other hand, leaves a bit to be desired. Specifically when one of those missions is to watch other players open their loot boxes 3 times.

On the plus side, none of the stuff you get is gameplay content; it’s all cosmetic, and the boxes are free. So far. On the other hand, watching other people open loot boxes is boring. If I’m playing a game, I’m not going to stand around with my thumb in my ass watching other people get random stuff.
