So apparently CBS is remaking The Odd Couple, and Matthew Perry has been attached for a while as Oscar (the sloppy one). And now, in a rare display of intelligence for a television network, they’ve cast Thomas Lennon as Felix (the neat one).
Since this is the Internet, you’re most likely familiar with Lennon from Reno 911! I find it fascinating that he, along with fellow Reno alum Robert Ben Garant, is one of the most sought-after screenwriters in Hollywood; the two have penned both Night at the Museum movies, as well as Herbie: Fully Loaded.
Why CBS is choosing 2014 to give us a new Odd Couple is anyone’s guess. Almost every show on TV involves mismatched partners in some way, from 2 Broke Girls to Hannibal. But Lennon and Perry are both funny, and Neil Simon’s source material is classic, so I’m gonna give this the benefit of the doubt.
Oh wait, CBS? Never mind.
