Columbus Short says goodbye to Scandal

Olivia Pope & Associates will have one less gladiator when Scandal returns for its fourth season, as Columbus Short won’t be reprising his role as Harrison Wright. This caps off a tumultuous year for the Stomp the Yard actor (never forget), as he was arrested for assault, and threatened his wife with murder-suicide. Via Vulture:

“Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas,” Short says. “I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful.”

This might be the best thing for the show. Harrison was a virtual nonentity in season three, and even when Shonda Rhimes tried to spice things up, absolutely no one gave a shit about the Adnan Salif storyline. So I guess they’ll have to find someone else to wear polka dot/paisley ensembles and talk about how great Olivia Pope is, because that was, without exaggeration, the only reason Harrison existed.
