On Thursday, an armed man got into an altercation with Police at Phoenix Comic Con. He was wearing body armor, and carrying a knife and several firearms at the time, including a shotgun. When questioned, the mentally disturbed man said he was cosplaying as The Punisher; I would’ve guessed Hurley from Lost, based on that mugshot.
But it gets better; aside from ruining the congoing experience for everyone,and threatening police on FaceBook beforehand, this nutter was on a mission. A mission to kill Jason David Frank. You know, the Green/White/Red Power Ranger from the earliest seasons of Saban/Toei’s localized Super Sentai series.
Needless to say, Police tackled Matthew’s crazy ass. After a short altercation, that is; none injured. He has appeared at his initial court hearing; the judge set his bond at one million dollars.
Sadly, many conventions are now banning prop weapons, including wands. Harry Potter, you just some dude in a bathrobe. Need to change, Sailor Moon? Try the utility closet.
Gen Pop is going to love this guy.
