Development of The Culling has Stopped

The Culling

You could say it’s been… culled.

The Culling has ceased development. Which is odd, as it had just came out of Early Access this October. nonetheless, the 16-player battle royale game was struggling to compete in a world with Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds. And its developers, Xaviant, are moving on to new things:

This past October, we brought The Culling out of Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview. Battle royale, the genre we helped to pioneer, is now a favorite of millions and we can’t help but feel a sense of pride for having been part of its birth.

After more than two years dedicated to making The Culling, it’s time to announce that Xaviant has begun work on a new title. Despite having grown our then tiny team into a slightly larger group of twenty developers, this means that our entire focus is now on our new project. There are no future updates planned for The Culling.

Don’t worry too much about the servers, though; Xaviant says they’ll be staying up for the foreseeable future. Which is good for the sub-15 people still playing the game on average. So I guess the rest of us will just wait and see what Xaviant has in store for us now.
