Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia Heading Stateside

Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia

Dissidia was sort of an oddity for Final Fantasy; FF characters hadn’t been in a fighting game since Ehrgeiz (side note: God Bless the Ring). And then it turned into a general Final Fantasy crossover with the Theatrhythm games.

Naturally, since Final Fantasy is Square Enix’s global money maker (Dragon Quest is still more popular in Japan) that moved to mobile, where they’ve had one massive, embarrassing failure, and a couple of pleasant successes. And despite the fact that (almost) all of the above were, functionally, pulling the same deal as Dissidia, that line is headed to mobile proper with Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia.

The game seems to be running off of a similar aesthetic to the remakes of Final Fantasy 3 and 4. Indeed, it’s turn-based, yet also utilizes the brave/HP mechanics of the fighting game. There’s also, supposedly, a social element that allows you to play multiplayer with friends, though there are few details about that right now. It is, however, another Free-to-Play RPG, so I’m not sure where the money will actually come in.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT releases on PS4 at the end of January, so it’s fairly likely that Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia will have a release roughly coinciding with that. It will release to both Android and iOS systems. You can pre-register on Google Play now.
