Dragon Ball Z Composer Is Now A State Senator

Dragon Ball Z

Are we still on Namek?

As it turns out, one of Dragon Ball Z‘s many composers has become a State Senator in Texas. Senator Nathan M. Johnson actually did double duty as both a composer (significantly, for a number of episodes of Dragon Ball Z‘s dub) as well as a lawyer in the past.

Despite graduating from the University of Texas with a law degree, for a time he focused on his musical career. That period was when he met Funimation co-founder Robert Cocanougher. And the rest, as they say, is history.

He was able to beat out his opponent, Republican Don Huffines, in the midterm election, with 54% of the vote. And, while you might think he’d hide his past in animation scoring away, the opposite is true. On his election site, he proudly lists it among his accomplishments. He even worked on Dragon Ball Z: Broly the Second Coming.

I’m certain he’ll do well in the senate. After all, he knows how to score 25 minutes of two men screaming and staring each other down, as well as the law (just ribbin’ ya, boss).
