E3 2017 will be open to the public via new Consumer Pass

The last time they did this things did not go well. And this time around the floor will be opened up to far more consumers than ever before.

Consumer Pass tickets are going on sale beginning February 13 at noon eastern time. But the tickets for the event are going to cost you, if you can even snag one.

The first batch of 1,000 tickets will run $149, with the remaining 14,000 going for $249. The passes will give you access to everything press get access to minus behind closed doors demos and meetings.

E3 has been opening its doors more and more to consumers over the years in various forms, but this is the biggest move to date. It only makes sense as so many publishers have backed away from the show, favoring to host their own free shows in the area.

We’ve been going to E3 for a number of years and 2016 did feel lighter than usual with som many of the huge booths now gone. We didn’t mind as we were actually able to walk around and cover far more than ever before from smaller publishers.

If things turn into San Diego ComicCon and we are turned into sardines in a can then it might end up hurting the show overall. Only time will tell how this year goes. Will we be seeing you there?
