EA CEO and Execs Gave Up Bonuses To Employees

A real surprise mechanic.

Look, I’ve been giving EA a fair amount of stick for the past, like, year. And to be fair, it’s not exactly unearned. I think that if you talk to a number of people who’ve been at the whole games hobby for a while, they probably have something less than nice to say about the company. Seriously, find an old-school Bioware fan; they’ll give you an earful.

So it’s actually a surprise 180 to find that EA CEO Andrew Wilson (recently voted one of the 100 most overpaid CEOs of 2019) gave up his bonus for the year. As a matter of fact, not only did Wilson give his bonus up, instead paying it into a fund to be distributed to employees, so did several other EA execs. CFO Blake Jorgensen, CTO Kenneth Moss, CMO Chis Burzzo, CSO Laura Miel all followed suit. Even DICE CEO Patrick Soderlund did so, despite leaving the company in August 2018.

Taking this into account, it’s pretty tempting to ease off of the company. Especially as they’ve made statements to the effect that they’re aiming to do better. Now they just need to make Titanfall 3 to make Pat and Woolie happy.
