EA Drops Ads Into NBA 2K21’s Loading Screens Because There’s Nothing Like A Captive Audience

NBA 2K21

How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?

Hey, remember when EA dropped a bunch of ads into UFC 4, literal weeks after its release? And how everybody loved that? Well, they’re back at it, this time with NBA 2K21. Apparently, they figured if they waited a month and a half, no one would notice this time.

Per Stevivor, ads for Oculus Quest 2 have popped up during the pre-game loading screens. The ads are reported to be in the Xbox One, PS4 and PC versions of the game, and for the console versions, the loading screens are longer that the ads themselves.

The ads are unskippable and, the real clincher here, prevent you from doing other in game things you were able to do during loading screens. You used to be able to edit your lineup. Not anymore. You sit there, and you watch that ad, you sad bastard.

There’s no word if these ads will be in the versions for the PS5 and Xbox SeX/SeS. My guess is that it’s a yes, unless everybody screams at EA like they’re a dog that just pissed on a $5000 rug.
