EA Pisses Off Big Sean Then Apologizes

EA

I don’t know why he expected any different.

The EA fuck up cycle is one of my favorite things, especially considering that I generally don’t buy EA games. Also, censorship is super funny to me (e.g. find a stranger in the alps, the entire Scarface television edit, etc.).

So EA put in some rap song for Madden 19, and EA Origin subscribers got to the game first. Players noticed that the song in question (YG’s Big Bank  ft. 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and Nicki Minaj) was edited to remove a line referencing former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. A line which was Big Sean’s.

Big Sean wasn’t too enthused:

And Kaepernick retweeted him:

But EA already issued an apology:

We made an unfortunate mistake with our Madden NFL soundtrack. Members of our team misunderstood the fact that, while we don’t have rights to include Colin Kaepernick in the game, this doesn’t affect soundtracks. We messed up, and the edit should never have happened. We will make it right, with an update to Madden NFL 19 on August 6 that will include the reference again. We meant no disrespect, and we apologize to Colin, to YG and Big Sean, to the NFL, to all of their fans, and our players for this mistake.

As for Kaepernick, I don’t exactly see quarterbacking again in his future, but whatev.
