Elon Musk Puuts Temporary Hold On Twitter Deal To Verify That Less Than 5% Of Users Are Bots

Look, I know you got a plan, here, but please don’t kill Shitpostbot5000.

Love him or hate him, Elon Musk is still going through the process of acquiring Twitter. And it’s probably a good thing that he’s doing it, too; I mean, Jesus Christ, have you really taken a look at that blighted hellscape of a site recently? Regardless, things seem to have hit a bit of a snag, necessitating a slight pause. Because he wants confirmation from the platform that less than 5% of their users are bots or spammers, otherwise known as fake accounts.

That link leads to a Reuters article that reports on a filing the company made which asserts that less than 5% of Twitter users are some form of fake account. It seems likely that this raised a red flag for the billionaire, who either wants to know that he’s buying what’s advertised, or maybe wants to see if any misinformation on the company’s part might be grounds for a better deal. Who knows, other than the man himself?

That said, what this apparently isn’t is some attempt to have grounds to back out of the deal, leaving Twitter in shambles with their dirty laundry exposed (the dirty laundry probably comes later, if at all). As he himself Tweeted out:
