Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age E3 impressions

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

I had the chance to play through a demo of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age recently while roaming the halls of E3 2016.

I loved the original version of XII, even though I felt that as an Ivalice game it would’ve been better off as separate from the main series (which brings up the fact that I always found it weird that they made their online installments numbered sequels).

Nonetheless, as it wasn’t much appreciated when it was originally released, coupled with the fact that this is a port of the previously Japan only Zodiac Job System version of the game, makes it ripe for success.

The one disappointing thing about the demo was that I couldn’t crack open the menu and take a look at the preset Gambits, nor the Job System version of the License grid. But still, the game looks damn good in HD, which isn’t much of a surprise as the original really pushed the PS2 to its limits.

Sadly I didn’t get to enjoy the Captain Basch of Dalmasca scenes in HD, but I’m sure my heart will recover. It’s a good enough game that I desperately wish I had enough money to get a PS4 to play it again. I just hope it paves the way for another Yasumi Matsuno game.
