Fortnite Tournament Winner Gets Swatted, Along With Partents

Was livestreaming at the time.

Earlier in the month, Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf was riding high. He’d won a $3 million purse from a Fortnite tournament, and had even been invited to Ninja’s first Mixer stream. Late Sunday, however, he got Swatted during a Fortnite livestream.

Per Kotaku, Bugha was streaming when he was called away by his father. The Swat team was at the door, fully armed. Several minutes later, he returned to the stream.

That was definitely a new one,” he can be heard saying on a recording of the stream. “I got swatted.

The peaceful resolution was mostly down to the fact that an officer lived in the neighborhood.

I was lucky because the one officer, yeah, he lives in our neighborhood.

The swatting trend is both a costly and potentially deadly one. Not all of those who have been swatted have been as lucky as Bugha. Notably, one incident involving a certain greaseball calling it in resulted in a man’s death.
