Fox Orders Animated Pilot ‘Okies of Bel Air’ From NBA Star Blake Griffin

Okies of Bel Air

When not getting mad ups (that’s a basketball term still, right?) Blake Griffin is doing a lot of media related things. Deadline is reporting that the NBA stars next big project is the animated comedy Okies of Bel Air with the help Imagine TV. Griffin serves as executive producer on the project with Sean O’Conner (The Late Show) handling writing duties.

The show looks to pull many elements from the life of Blake Griffin and looks to be inspired by shows such as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and The Beverly Hillbillies as the name implies. Okies of Bel Air will tell the story of some Oklahoma catfish farmers who move out West when their kid gets drafted into the NBA.

As one can imagine, a lot of the plots will revolve around the cultural shock that these humble folk will face in the high-end world of Bel Air. Being animated is always a risk, as is any project on FOX, but the two shows it pulls from were very well received.
