Frieza to Return to Dragon Ball Super

FriezaonDragonBallSuper

What started as a rumor has become all but fact. Frieza will return to Dragon Ball Super, and likely as the final member of Universe 7’s team. Or, at least, according to Toyotaro (the author of Dragon Ball Super’s manga adaptation).

Allegedly, over the course of the next three episodes, Buu will overexert himself either training or sparring with Goku, and falls into a deep sleep that he definitely won’t wake up from for two months. Considering that they’ll only have a few hours until the Tournament of Power, that leaves them in a pickle, and supposedly Goku decides to unilaterally fix the problem by recruiting Frieza as their tenth (screwing Yamcha over again). You know, the guy that blew up Namek and really, really tried to blow up Earth.

I’m guessing that the point will be made that since universal erasure will affect him too, it’s in Frieza’s best interests to play along at least for a time. That said, I personally like the fact that Super splits the difference between Dragon Ball and Z, so who knows what they’re going to do with him. It could literally wind up being a joke or some kind of humiliation conga line for him.

The episode that will hold the answer airs June 4th in Japan.
