GameStop begins Kinect trade-in program

Less than two months ago Microsoft announced that it would be selling its Xbox One console without the Kinect peripheral. Now that the dust has finally settled from gamers jumping for joy, Gamestop has announced today that it will now be taking Xbox One Kinects for trade-in or store credit.

The news, first found by a Reddit user, states that Gamestop will be offering $40 in in-store credit and $32 cash back when you bring in your Xbox One Kinect. While it doesn’t cover the cost of the Kinect on its own (100 smackers) it does at least put some money in your pocket.

Sure, you could stick the unit on eBay or Craigslist, but if you want something quick, easy, and without all the hassle and waiting, going the GameStop route isn’t a bad idea. Besides, $40 goes a long way to getting yourself a nice new game.

Microsoft is still saying that they are supporting the Kinect, but after spending a week at E3 and not even seeing enough Kinect games to count on a single hand, things don;t look so good at the moment. Then again, we aren’t really seeing any new games (on either platform) to justify this new generation of consoles.kinect
