Grand Theft Auto 6 Confirmed

Grand Theft Auto 6

Well, obviously.

As it turns out, Grand Theft Auto 6 isn’t a meme like Half-Life 3. It’s real, it’s happening, and they’re working on it right now.

The news comes from a community update, which addresses the constant questions of “where is Grand Theft Auto 6″? Well, those people now have their answer: sometime in the future, but it’s totally happening.

With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.

Granted, it might not be titled Grand Theft Auto 6. But it’s definitely the next actual game in the series, so that’s what everyone’s going to call it; at least, for now. This is uncertain territory, however; Rockstar co-founder and driving force behind the series, Dan Houser, left the studio in 2020. So it may become a question of how it stacks up against everything made under his eye.

There’s no announced date or platform for the game. So that probably means it’ll be a ways off. Analysts previously predicted that the next Grand Theft Auto game wouldn’t be out until Take-Two’s 2024 fiscal year. With the announcement now, though, all bets are off.
