Henry Cavill Cast As Geralt In Neflix’s The Witcher Series

The Witcher

The best part is, he won’t have to shave!

Netflix has been at work on getting the pieces together for their series based on The Witcher. And they’ve just cast their lead; Henry Cavill, a.k.a. mustache Superman. Netflix has described their series:

[The Witcher is] an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

The big plus here is that Cavill is a fan of the books that started it all. And the series is in good hands; Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Marvel’s Daredevil and The Defenders, ) will be showrunner for the series’ 8 episode first season.

Alik Sakharov (Game of Thrones) will direct the pilot an first 4 episodes, while Alex Garcia Lopez (Luke Cage) and Charlotte Brändström (Outlander) will direct two episodes each.

No premiere is set for Netflix’s The Witcher, but everyone seems to expect it sometime in 2020. No word on whether Henry Cavill is honing his skating skillz for the role, either.
