HIDEit Mounts – Controller Mount

At the very end of E3 Day 1, we were making our way through the back alleys of the West Hall, generally reserved for “authorized” resellers and weird shit from the far corners of Asia. But there’s always 2 or 3 gems that make it worth the trek, and this year was no exception.

In the waaaaay back, on a bright green wall were various consoles and controllers that seemed to stuck up there with loops of duct tape. My heart skipped a beat, in the same way a parent might feel seeing a pop star dangle a baby from a balcony. But as scary as it was, HIDEit Mounts made all that tech look pretty sexy.

When I came in for a closer look, we were greeted by a guy nonchalantly sliding a PS4 console out of its metal wall-mount. And as scared as I originally was for these poor consoles’ lives, that thing looked solid.

He gave us a booklet to check out with all their products and “Made in America” company standards. While a floating console does look cool, the claims of how much it will clear your wire clutter may be a bit exaggerated in some of the before and after clutter

There aren’t enough mounts in the world to save me from this electrical fire waiting to happen

When they found out we were press, they hooked us up with some free controller mounts. Since my entire gaming/streaming setup is held up on two TV trays, every square inch is precious. I jumped at the chance to free up some space, and have a dedicated spot so as not to lose that damn thing any more.

The metal feels as sturdy as it looks, and it does its job exactly as it’s supposed to. This came with two screws and drywall anchors if you don’t want to put it on a stud. But since I’m lazy and noncommittal, I used some of those double sided sticky tape deals, and it’s working just fine.

A work of art on display

They make HIDEit Mounts for all the consoles and controllers, but also for cable boxes, routers. And they even have one for the Amazon Echo of all things! These are solidly built, surprisingly inexpensive and actually can help with some clutter. They’re well worth checking out at www.hideitmounts.com.
