Holy crap, Pink Floyd is releasing a new album in October

This is not the kind of news I’d expect to be reporting on a Sunday, but hey, I’m not complaining. Pink Floyd, one of the best goddamn rock bands of all time, is releasing their first album since 1994’s The Division Bell. Polly Samson, who is married to singer/guitarist David Gilmour, casually said this on Twitter:

Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called “The Endless River”. Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright’s swansong and very beautiful.

This is huge to me. Not only does it sound like the original lineup (save keyboardist Rick Wright, who died in 2008) is returning to record, but that means they’ll probably also tour – although, to be fair, only David Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason are confirmed as involved. Nevertheless, ff you get a chance to see these guys live, do it. Seeing Roger Waters perform Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall is the closest I’ve ever come to a religious experience.
