HP Expands It’s Low-Cost ‘Stream’ Series With 14-Inch Model

HP Stream

While many of us may consider HP’s low-cost Stream series a bunch of junk (they aren’t) the company seems to be doing quite well with the line. Heck, my dad even bought one of their little desktop pucks and has been quite happy with it.

We have to remember that laptops and desktops are for more than just gaming and downloading the latest in hot new Warez, bro! And with kids going back to school many parents are looking for something cheap and reliable to get their little ones through the next few years.

The one issue with HP’s Stream laptop was that the smallest unit was a 13-inch version. I’m sure it lovely for ants, but most people don’t want to be squinting with working. It seems HP understands this their new Stream 14 pretty much replaces the older Stream 13.

The new Stream 14 includes:

  • Faster 2×2 802.11ac WiFi
  • 2016-era Celeron processor
  • 10 hours, 45 minutes of battery life
  • Weighs in at 3.17 pounds
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 32GB of flash storage
  • 1,366 x 768 resolution

While those final specs will send a shiver up your spine, you have to remember that these are basically internet laptops that people can run Office on. That being said they can run some older games for those looking for a little playtime.

The real magic is the starting price of $219. There is also an update on the way for the Stream 11 which is currently retailing for $199 is you are looking to save a few bucks. To be honest, while you can survive on the old 13-inch model the 11-inch model seems like it’s only their to help sell glasses, as you’ll go blind using the darn thing.
