If You’re Running Windows 10, You’re Getting The Windows 11 Compatibility Checker

Windows 11

Whether you like it or not.

Good news, everyone! If you have Windows 10 installed, you’re getting the Windows 11 compatibility checker. Even if your pc is obviously not compatible, or you have no interest in upgrading to Windows 11! Huzzah!

That’s right, update KB5005463, you get Windows PC Health Check. Which sounds like a good thing, until you find out that its primary purpose is to figure out if your system is compatible with Windows 11. And while its better at its job than it was before, you’re probably going to be left clueless as to why your system isn’t compatible when it tells you so. Considering it can be down to whether you have TPM 2.0 enabled or not, that ain’t great.

Is any of this strictly necessary for installing Windows 11 on your PC? No. But it doesn’t do much to dispel the notion that Microsoft’s trying to force all of this out to support a less than stellar launch.

The good news is, you can uninstall Windows PC Health Check from the Apps & Features menu. Goodbye, bloat.
