Intellivision Amico delayed until 2021 surprising no one

The Intellivision Amico is the dumbest idea for a console in the modern age. It’s an overly expensive console featuring games that are mostly all already out on mobile devices for free or on digital stores for a couple of bucks. Months ago I said all of this along with the fact that I did not think the console would release this year. I think I even said I’d eat my hat if it stuck to that date.

This mostly because it would complete with the Xbox Series X and PS5, both console which have packages that are equal or less that what the Amico was going for. It was a dumb idea and now it seems that the team behind it thought so too. They have been looking for reasons to push back this stupid console in an attempt to see if they can beat the amount of delays of the equally idiotic Atari VCS console.

What is not cool is that they are blaming the coronavirus on the delay. Look, COVID-19 is wrecking a lot of small companies and I am positive it has hurt the Amico team but I highly doubt that it was the main reason and more the perfect excuse to cover their bumbling attempts to create a console no one wants. Listen, go buy an Evercade if you want t retro console with a cool team that actually delivers.

Are you sure these games weren’t all made for a weekend Game Jam?

CEO Tammy Tallarico, an amazingly talented musician and a legend in video game music, said that sticking to the October ship date would see Intellivision having to compromise on quality and specific features of which were not detailed. They wanted extra time and found the perfect excuse.

The new launch date will be April 3rd, 2021 for pre-orders, with retail availability on April 15th, 2021 after the new generation of consoles launch. I’m currently taking bets on it it will even hit that April date. Let us know in the comments below if you think it will be pushed back again. It’s almost like creating a console is super hard and that $150 original tag was a joke.
