Jon Favreau’s Star Wars Series Cost $100 Million

Star Wars

That’s one mighty swing.

According to the New York Times, Jon Favreau’s live-action Star Wars series has quite the price tag for the Mouse. The ten episodes will cost $100 million to make. And, no doubt, it will be one of the crown jewels of Disney’s streaming service. Per an email from Favreau:

Star Wars is a big world, and Disney’s new streaming service affords a wonderful opportunity to tell stories that stretch out over multiple chapters.

The series will focus on new characters, and take place about 7 years after Return of the Jedi. Favreau is writing and executive producing the show. It’ won’t be the only new thing on the service, though; it’ll debut alongside a Marvel show, an animated Monsters, Inc. show, and a High School Musical show. The service launches in 2019.
