Jon Favreau’s Star Wars Series Gets Place In Timeline

Star Wars

EPISODE VI & 3/8

THE RETURN OF THE REVENGE OF THE EMPIRE

Actor/Director Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Elf, The Jungle Book, Chef) has confirmed that the live-action Star Wars show will be set seven years after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Favreau will be writing for, as well as having an executive producer credit on, the show.

Favreau confirmed this in a new interview with Nerdist, via Comicbook.com, just ahead of the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Lucasfilm President Kathleen KennedyHad this to say following the initial announcement:

I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform. Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow Jon the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base.

The show doesn’t have a name yet, but it does have a home: Disney’s as-yet-unnamed streaming service. And it’ll be in good company there; it’ll also host a new live-action Marvel show, an animated series for Monsters, Inc., and a High School Musical show.
