Kate Mulgrew Reprises Role As Kathryne Janeway For Star Trek Prodigy

Star Trek Prodigy

And this time, Janeway’s taking her meds!

NYCC 2020 had a few few things of note, despite the fact that the virus is still nuking the crap ot of the event calendar. Notably, Kate Mulgrew announced that she was reprising her role as (Captain? Admiral? Dangerous unmedicated sociopath?) Janeway for the Nickelodeon series Star Trek Prodigy.

From the press release to iO9:

I have invested every scintilla of my being in Captain Janeway, and I can’t wait to endow her with nuance that I never did before in Star Trek: Prodigy. How thrilling to be able to introduce to these young minds an idea that has elevated the world for decades. To be at the helm again is going to be deeply gratifying in a new way for me.

For those not familiar, Star Trek Prodigy is aimed at younger viewers. Which I’m okay with, because it means no Admiral “Fucking” Clancy. It sort of appears to be Star Trek-flavored Space Cases. Which is also a lot better than Star Trek-flavored Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda, which will soon be airing on CBS All Access (or Paramount+).

Star Trek Prodigy will begin airing on Nickelodeon in 2021.
