Rumors have been floating about of a Mario RPG made in conjunction with Ubisoft. As time has gone on, those rumors have started to solidify into fact. Thus, we have Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle.

Why does this all read like the ramblings of a lunatic? Nintendo World Report

Allegedly, the game will feature indirect control of your character. Worlds will be based on previous Mario titles, with plenty of references. Exploration will make up about a third of the game, with turn-based combat making the rest. Said combat is allegedly tactical.

The game will feature 8 characters: Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi, and 4 mentally unstable bastard creations dressed as each. There will be co-op play. Could this game be fun? Possibly? I don’t know…

Ohhhh hoh oh ho, we’re being optimistic, aren’t we? This is what you’d call an uphill battle. Nintendo World Report

Why? Why, Nintendo?  Why would you let this cancer through your door? These little lagomorphic fucks nearly killed Rayman off as a franchise. This is a fact well known among your core demographic. I know Ubisoft is developing, but I would’ve okayed just about any of their other franchises to guest before Rabbids.

If this leak was intentional, I’m pretty sure this wasn’t the expected response. Nonetheless, this is set to launch late summer this year. So… fingers crossed?
