Masaya Nakamura The Father of Pac-Man Has Died

Masaya Nakamura the “Father of Pac-Man,” has died at the age of 91.

Nakamura was the founder of Namco in 1955 which at the time was called Nakamura Manufacturing. Back at that time the company provided those kiddy rides that you would see in front of department stores.

In the 1970s the company expanded into the new video arcade market and with the help designer Toru Iwatani the game Pac-Man was born and went on to change the gaming landscape forever.

Pac-Man would become one of the backbone games of Namco and has seen a release in some form on nearly every console platform. The game has such staying power that Pac-Man saw a release in 2016 with Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
