Massive Valve Leak Includes Data From Team Fortress 2, Portal, And Half-Life 2

Valve

Gentlemen.

Well, it finally happened. A massive leak containing files from Valve games including Portal, Counter Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, Half Life 2: Episodes 1 & 2, Half-Life 2 multiplayer, and Team Fortress 2 has dropped.

The massive leak contains the entire Valve repository as of 2016; the files are in the form of asset repositories, which is what you’d expect. The bulk of it, however, is comprised of assets from Team Fortress 2. And the TF2 community is having a field day with it.

The leak comes from someone named WandererLeaker, who posted it, along with an explanation, on Discord.

A real shame. I have no legal binding to these files. not anymore.

I have held onto these since 2016. Most of the filedates are from when I moved them after my computer blew up in 2019.

I also did my toying around with it for a few years, I did not upload because I was threatened everytime.

I don’t care anymore. That person is no longer in contact.

Among the files are things like a model for Saxton Hale, a witch based off an early design for Miss Pauling, unused tutorial levels, an unused three-legged robot, textures for the classic Team Fortress green and yellow colors, a cut bonesaw (or potentially early Ubersaw), and a TF2 chess map, and plenty more.

Oh, there’s also a Level 4 Sentry.

Also featured are taunts that were never implemented:

Naturally, the community is having their fun, here. And some of their claims about things or items seem to be little more than speculation. But considering the fact that Valve has given the keys to the kingdom to the players as of the last TF2 update, it’s a big deal.

As for the other games, they’re not on the level of the TF2 leak, which accounted for 61GB by itself. There are, however, files from Counter Strike, Portal, and Half-Life 2 in there; nothing to compare to the TF2 smörgåsbord, but still. You’re not finding Half-Life 3 in there, though.
