Microsoft Drops Price of Xbox One Amid Released PS4 Sales Numbers

Microsoft today have announced a price drop (in a sense) for their Xbox One console. Microsoft hopes the move will invigorate sales of the console that they launched this past November.

The price drop is only one part of the equation as Microsoft will be bundling the Xbox One with their highly anticipated title, Titanfall. The bundle will be prices at $499, essentially making Titanfall free.

This news comes on the heels of recent sales reports that indicate Playstation 4 sales topped over 5.3 million units, far ahead of the 4.2 million that Sony sold all of last year since its launch. Microsoft on the other hand has yet to release official numbers, but as of January reports show it has sold just over 3 million consoles by the end of last year.

While Microsoft have claimed that the Xbox One has meet its internal sales expectations, the numbers from Sony are concerning. Cutting the price of a console this early on in its life-cycle makes one wonder what is going on at Microsoft. This unexpected price drop could be an indication of some internal problems at the company.
