Mortal Kombat 1 Drops Halloween Fatality that Costs $10-$12, Pissing Off Fans

Mortal Kombat 1

Gee, can’t imagine why…

Earlier in the week, Warner Bros. Games revealed a seasonal Fatality (this time for Halloween) that would be sold for real money in Mortal Kombat 1. This naturally pissed off the game’s fans. And it got worse when the Halloween Fatality was added to the shop; not only was it in the game, but there was a real price attached: $10.

To be more specific, the Fatality kosts 1200 Dragon Krystals; an amount which can be bought in a bundle that runs you $10 for 1250 Krystals (or, more accurately, ~$12; there aren’t any normal Krystal packs that give the exact amount). The Fatality below:

Mmmm, all that for $10. You know, I could probably think of something better to spend that tenner on. And, it seems, plenty of others might agree with me.

The backlash is wide-ranging, with pretty much all mentioning that the price is a bit extreme, considering it’s roughly 1/7th the cost of the $70 base game.

Gonna remind you that Woolie choose MvC3 over sex. With two women. At the same time. Better use of your $10, I’d say.

People over on Reddit correctly identified that buying this will encourage them to continue to sell overpriced bullshit.

On the other hand, not all DLC is the greatest evil ever imagined. Like, say, character DLC; of which Ed Boon has teased Ghostface and Jigsaw, alongside possibly Michael Myers, Chucky, and the Cenobite Hell Priest (a.k.a. Pinhead). Of all of those, I’d say Chucky and Pinhead make particularly good sense because they’re both hold up a bit better to the Mortal Kombat roster.
