Ninja Ditches Twitch For Mixer

See you, boobie-streamer land.

You might be familiar with streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. He gained much of his current popularity streaming Fortnite on Twitch. And yet, parting is such sweet sorrow, because he’s made an announcement that from now on, he’ll be streaming exclusively on Mixer.

So nice of him to give @AngriestPat a small cameo in his video.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Ninja said this:

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities Twitch has provided me,” Blevins told The Associated Press. “But as I looked at the next step in my career, I wanted to be somewhere that empowered me to push the boundaries of gaming and achieve bigger goals within the industry. Mixer provides me with more ways to connect with my community.”

Ninja’s first Mixer streaming event will be at Lollapalooza on Friday. He’ll be joined by Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf; the 16-year-old player that won a $3 million purse last Sunday for winning the Fortnite World Cup. That said, Ninja doesn’t plan to actively lure other players to Mixer with him.

“I want my friends to make their own decisions for what platforms they choose to play on,” Blevins said. “With that being said, I will welcome anyone with open arms who wants to join me.”

For their part in all of this, Twitch also made a statement to the Associated Press regarding the move:

“We’ve loved watching Ninja on Twitch over the years and are proud of all that he’s accomplished for himself and his family, and the gaming community. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

Regardless, the change is definitely bringing notoriety to Mixer, which has mostly trailed behind Twitch in users. Whether it ultimately tips the scales in their favor, however, is a matter decided by time.
