Ashes to ashes…

With no warning, Nintendo has removed over 250 DSiware titles (more than half the library) from the eShop. According to Twitter user @comeoutpunching, who was the first to really get the word out, all of these games were originally released before mid-May 2011.This delisting seems to have happened on January 1st, 2021.

Delisted Games reports that over 250 DSiware games have been delisted on the eShop from the grand total of 448 that were previously available. Trying to access these games now simply returns an error message.

Granted, this all mostly seems confined to the North American eShop… for now. As to whether or not this is intentional or not is up for speculation. But it seems likely to be deliberate, though even then the question remains “why?” in regards to Nintendo’s reasoning.

Modern Vintage Gamer over on YouTube gave a fairly complete take on the subject.

So, it’s looking more and more that those in search of any of these DSiware titles like Aura Aura Climber in the future will have little choice but to start singing this tune:
