Nintendo Labo – Cardboard Fun 4 Kids

Nintendo Labo

Currently generating plenty of salty adults.

There’s been a lot of speculation as to Nintendo’s next announcement. The Wii U to Nintendo Switch ports were divisive (I’m personally for them, as I didn’t own a Wii U), but the latest has inspired a large amount of salt. Nintendo Labo has the audacity to market cardboard peripheral project kits at kids.

The comments section is a salt mine.

There will be two Nintendo Labo kits on the market 4/20/2018 (get it? they’re mocking the people upset in advance!). The Variety Kit, which contains an assortment of small peripherals in the kit and a game that uses them for $69.99. And the Robot Kit, which contains a single peripheral for controlling the robot in its game, for $79.99.

Like you bojos aren’t going to buy the Robot Kit and pretend that you’re robots. Nintendo

The one concern that really seems to be of value being raised by all sides is the choice of material. Cardboard is an inexpensive material that’s fairly easy to work with, true. But it’s not hard to imagine how easy it is for these kits to be damaged, especially since roughly $10-$20 of these kits is comprised of that cardboard. That is, of course, assuming the current average Switch game MSRP of $59.99. I suppose as that launch date approaches, we’ll know more. Until then, enjoy the rage Nintendo Labo has inspired, I suppose.
