Satoru Iwata

Nintendo has released an official statement regarding the death of President Satoru Iwata:

Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.

The world of video games is a lot less full today with the announcement that CEO and President, Satoru Iwata, has died. Iwata was 55 and passed away due to complications with a bile duct growth.

Iwata has been with Nintendo since the 1980s, where he worked on games like the legendary title EarthBound. In the year 2000 Iwata became director of the company and was elevated to President (only the fourth in company history) in 2002.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Iwata. You will be missed by the millions and millions of players you touched with your love of games.
