Nintendo teams with GameStop because two companies losing money teaming up makes sense

I’m sure you all have either read, or heard about the numbers coming out of camp Nintendo. Let me be the first to say that I am a huge fan of Nintendo; Heck, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing today without the influence the company had on my childhood. That’s why I am so hard on them when they keep blowing things, especially with regards to their marketing department.

For the third straight year they have posted a loss (how Iwata still has a job is beyond me) and now have joined forces for a marketing push with a company (GameStop) that keeps closing stores like it’s going out of style. I’m sure it’ll be a nice event but why on earth would you

A) Limit yourself to a single weekend of in-store play

B) Make it a timed event lasting only four hours each day

Seems like a better idea to throw the game into a Target/Wal-Mart or BestBuy and having a big event with all the pomp and circumstance and leave the units there until release.

But what do I know, I’m not in the marketing business anymore.
