Metal Gear?

Oscar Isaac has been cast as Solid Snake in a forthcoming Metal Gear Solid Movie. The film, which has spent a fair amount of time in development hell, is written by Derek Connolly and directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. The film is currently in development at Sony Pictures.

The news comes via Deadline. This is just the latest for Isaac, as he’s also been tapped to play Marvel’s Moon Knight in the MCU, as well as a role in HBO’s Scenes From a Marriage opposite Jessica Chastain.

Given his busy schedule, plus the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there’s no concrete idea as to when the film will enter production. But his casting is a good sign that it’s going to happen.

Metal Gear Solid is a game series that most lends itself to film over others, given Kojima’s predilection for the cinematic. Still, there’s no telling just where in the series’ overall timeline this film will land. Safe bet though, that there’s going to be nanomachines, son.
