Overwatch 2 Now Free-To-Play, Launching In October This Year

Overwatch 2

Also Junker Queen.

If you still care about Overwatch as a franchise, the recent Xbox & Bethesda presentation gave you something. Because Overwatch 2 is launching in early access on October 4th this year, and as a free-to-play game to boot.

Granted, it’s launching only the PvP side of things; players will have to wait for the PvE content to be added at a later date. Even better, if you own the first game, you can get the Overwatch 2 Founder’s pack. This also includes a “surprise gift” that has yet to be announced.

Also announced is the 34th hero added to the game: The Junker Queen. You might remember her as having been teased years ago before they completely burned their fanbase chasing eSports clout. Well, she’s going to be in when Overwatch 2 launches this year. She’s a new Tank, with an axe and a shotgun and high mobility.

There’s going to be another reveal for the game slated for July 16th, 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST. It’ll probably have more info on everything.
