Overwatch Adding Deathmatch Mode

I hope you’re ready to rip your eyeballs out in rage.

Yes, the impossible is never truly impossible. Jeff Kaplan has revealed that Overwatch will soon feature a classic game mode: Deathmatch. And, also, team Deathmatch, but that’s aside from the central fact.

There’s no hard date given as to when the mode will be added. But Jeff did go into details about how both Deathmatch modes will work. Specifically, that vanilla Deathmatch is a race to 20 kills, whereas Team Deathmatch is about getting to 30 before the other team.

They’re also modifying maps to suit the mode. Notably, the Capture the Flag and Elimination maps adapted quite readily to the mode, though others are being adapted as well. But that’s not all; there will be a new map just for the mode: Chateau Guillard. The map can be considered akin to Horizon Lunar Colony, in that it’s Widowmaker’s home map, and contains some lore in regards to her past and present.

All I really know is that I’m terrible at Overwatch (and everything, really), and this mode will likely make me suffer horribly. Probably won’t be as painful as ranked, though. Probably.
